Alice Eve joins the cast of Star Trek 2

We're finally getting some assurance to believe that Star Trek sequel will really and finally be shooting sometime soon in 2012. Well... to begin with, the script for the sequel is being refined, JJ Abrams will sit in the director's chair and there's a possibility that Benicio Del Toro will be the villain. And now we receive a news from subspace that Alice Eve is Abrams' pick for a new role.

Nothing has yet leaked out about who or what (maybe a sexy killer robot!) Eve will play. Then again we're not surprised since we're dealing with Abrams and a Bad Robot production. However according to Variety's sources, it's more likely that she will be a new character in the Trek universe. That being said, did you see Yeoman Rand in the first film back in 2009? Neither did we.

Now that Eve has stepped in and most likely Del Toro, the cast is slowly filling out beyond returning stars Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Cho, Simon Pegg, Anton Yelchin, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, lens flares and a squad of red shirted types who should probably be very worried about their future.

January 2012 will most likely be when the shooting starts, Star Trek 2 is scheduled for May 17, 2013. Are you excited about Alice Eve joining the Star Trek sequel or not? Leave a comment below and let us know what you think.
